Job Title: Deputy CIO (Applications, SIS Modernization & IT Operations) - Long Term Consultant
Rate: $90 - $125 per hour (based on experience)
Location: Boston, MA (On-site)
Type: Full-Time Contract (12+ months, potential to extend or convert)

What you will do
  • Lead day to day IT operations across a multi site environment
  • Own and advance the Application Development function
  • Drive cloud migration efforts for the SIS and related enterprise platforms
  • Modernize reporting, data governance, and system reliability
  • Establish and enforce structured delivery frameworks, SLAs, and ticketing processes
  • Assess team capabilities, mentor managers, and build high performing groups
  • Ensure stability, security, and operational continuity across all enterprise systems
  • Partner closely with the CIO on strategy, risk management, and cross departmental initiatives
  • Maintain a strong on site leadership presence to support teams and stakeholders
What the ideal candidate brings
  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience
  • Strong background in application development and cloud/SaaS migrations
  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) or ERP platforms
    • (Ellucian, Banner, Colleague, Workday Student, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills and a disciplined operational leadership approach
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams across multiple locations
  • Hands on, proactive leadership style with a sense of urgency and ownership
Nice to have
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or multi site operations environments
  • Exposure to AI/automation tools (including modern copilots)
  • Salesforce or major cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
Schedule & Engagement Terms
  • On-site in Boston, Monday through Friday
  • Occasional travel to nearby satellite locations
  • 12+ month engagement with the potential to extend or convert to full-time
