Desktop Engineer
Location: York (Onsite)
Rate: £180 per day (Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: 6 months
We are currently seeking a reliable and customer-focused Desktop Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract based onsite in York. This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years of experience in desktop support or field engineering who is looking to gain further hands-on experience across hardware, software, and network environments.
The Role
As a Desktop Engineer, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting hardware and software across customer environments. You will ensure systems operate efficiently, are maintained to required standards, and meet agreed service levels.
Working closely with technical colleagues and end users, you will provide timely and professional onsite support while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Act as Field Engineer for specific clients, products, and technical kiosks/desks
Provide support across desktops, laptops, Servers, network devices, and AV rooms
Install, configure, and maintain PCs, networks, Servers, and peripherals
Deliver operational and preventative maintenance support
Perform installs, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC)
Test and certify PCs, networks, Servers, and approved applications
Troubleshoot and escalate issues where necessary, ensuring timely resolution
Complete all required documentation and administrative tasks
Meet SLA requirements and maintain high service standards
Maintain professionalism in customer-facing environments
Experience & Skills Required
1-2 years' experience in desktop support, field engineering, or IT support
Experience supporting Windows-based desktop environments
Basic understanding of networking concepts and server environments
Experience with hardware installs and troubleshooting
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently onsite
