DevOps Engineer (Active SC Clearance)

Day Rate: £400 per day (Inside IR35)

Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer with active SC Clearance to join a leading public sector programme. This is an excellent opportunity to work on critical cloud and infrastructure projects within a secure environment, supporting the delivery of scalable, resilient, and automated platforms.

The role is fully remote within the UK and offers an initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD processes to improve software delivery efficiency.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and security across environments.
• Collaborate with development, security, and operational teams to drive best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Support containerised applications and cloud-native technologies.
• Contribute to DevOps culture, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer.
• Active SC Clearance (mandatory).
• Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.
• Strong understanding of monitoring, logging, and automation practices.
• Experience working within Agile delivery teams.

Desirable Skills

• Public sector or government project experience.
• Knowledge of security best practices and DevSecOps principles.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, or Dynatrace.
