Job Title: CMM Programmer II
Job Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Location: Exeter, NH
Pay Rate: $38 - $51/hour
Position Summary
The CMM Programmer II is responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing CMM and gauge inspection programs for components ranging from simple to highly complex. This role is hands-on and includes both programming and on-the-floor inspection support, including proving out programs on equipment. The position works closely with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure accurate inspection processes, drive continuous improvement, and support prototype and production activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new and modify existing CMM/gauge inspection programs using 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
  • Work extensively with Zeiss Calypso software, Zeiss CMMs (including Duramax), and PiWeb reporting tools
  • Utilize Chaos or similar platforms for program management and data handling
  • Prove out CMM programs on the floor, including running parts, validating results, and troubleshooting issues (not a desk-only programming role)
  • Perform MDI inspections and support prototype builds, assisting wherever needed in early-stage production
  • Design operator-friendly prompts and interfaces for inspection programs
  • Validate inspection programs by identifying navigational and computational errors, conducting GR&R studies, and correlating results with mechanical and automated inspection methods
  • Provide hands-on mechanical inspection support and CMM verification for medium to highly complex machined components
  • Analyze and communicate inspection results through graphical reporting and PiWeb, including basic SPC analysis to support process improvement and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with engineering on manufacturability, drawing improvements, and inspection strategies
  • Train and mentor junior programmers and inspectors on software and best practices
  • Troubleshoot CMM/gauge systems, manage stylus configurations, and support hardware implementation
  • Research, design, and oversee manufacturing of fixturing solutions for inspection processes
  • Create and maintain documentation including inspection reports, GR&R studies, correlation reports, and ISO procedures
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis, and quality investigations
  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal quality procedures
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of CMM programming experience using automated inspection software
  • Minimum 6 years of mechanical inspection or related quality experience
  • Strong experience with Zeiss Calypso required; experience with PiWeb and Zeiss systems preferred
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5M-2009/2018) required
  • AUKOM certification (Level 1 or higher) preferred
  • Basic SOLIDWORKS certification required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software tools
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Hands-on, team-oriented mindset with willingness to support production and prototype environments
  • Experience with problem-solving methodologies and root cause analysis

Pay Details: $38.00 to $51.00 per hour
