At Quest Global, we are hiringFire and Gas Systems Subject Matter Expert for one of our Aerospace customers,which is 12 months contract Outside IR35 or Full time can be possible alsoand requires 100% onsite

Key Responsibilities:

  • Requirements validation and specification, based on gas turbine installation and interface with existingfire suppression systems, ofOil mist detection, gaseous fuel detection andfire detectionsystem for the installation
  • Conduct any Risks & Hazards assessment to support design and specifications
  • Collaborate with enclosure design make supplier to evaluate correct locations to position sensors and options to minimise stagnation zones within the enclosure
  • Supporttechnicalspecification and selection of sensors and systems for gaseous fuel detection,oil mist detectionandfire detectionacross
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable international and regional safety standards and codes (e.g., NFPA, IEC, ISO, ATEX).
  • Ensure all supplied safety sensors come with test and compliance certification
  • Collaborate withcross-functional teamsto integrate safety systems into enclosure and with existing systems
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of safety systems, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Develop and execute test protocols to validate system performance and compliance.
  • Providetechnicalguidanceand support during audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews.

Work Experience

Key Competencies:

  • Minimum 20 years of experience in designing and implementing safety systems such asfuel gas detection,oil mist detectionandfire detectionin a gas turbine power plant or related domain
  • Proven expertise in gas detection technologies (e.g., infrared, catalytic bead, electrochemical sensors).
  • Strong background infire detectionand suppression systems (e.g., CO2, FM-200, NOVEC 1230, water mist).
  • In-depth knowledge of safety codes and standards applicable to fuel systems and turbine environments.
  • Experience in hazard identification, HAZOP, andrisk mitigation.
  • Hands-on experience insystem testingand validation.
  • Experience in supplier vetting and engagement for safety system components.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Work Experience

Qualification and Necessary Skills

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical,Instrumentation, others)
  • 20+ years of experience in safety systems for gas turbine power plants specifically in the areas offuel gas detection,oil mist detection,fire detectionand suppression
  • Demonstrated experience working within integratedproduct teams.
  • Excellent communication andstakeholder engagementskills.
