JOB DUTIES
Position Summary
The Fire Business Analyst provides financial, administrative, and analytical support to the Farmington Fire Department. This role manages business processes, supports budget and purchasing functions, assists with policy development, and coordinates administrative operations (travel, records, reporting). The position ensures efficient administrative support for department leadership while improving data-driven decision-making to meet operational and strategic needs.
The role also supports the department's accreditation efforts and ensures alignment with applicable NFPA standards and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and progressively reasonable experience
At least 2 years of professional experience in business operations, financial analysis, or administrative support.
Proficiency with financial systems (e.g. AS-400), Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Work, PowerPoint), and data analysis tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and present findings.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
3 to 5 years of experience in municipal government, public safety administration, or fire service operations.
Knowledge of governmental procurement processes, budget development, and grant administration.
Familiarity with fire service operations, including NFPA standards and ISO rating systems.
Experience supporting fire department accreditation processes and relaced documentation.
Strong collaboration skills for working with Finance, HR, City Management, and interagency partners.
Familiarity with records management and workforce systems such as:
- ImageTrend (RMS - Records Management System)
- TeleStaff (staffing/scheduling)
- Other fire/EMS technology platforms (CAD, GIS, asset tracking, etc.).
Experience using data-driven reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Ideal Candidate Profile
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Emergency Management, or a related field.
5+ years of progressive experience in public safety administration, finance, or fire service business operations.
Proven experience preparing materials for accreditation, NFPA compliance, ISO reviews, and federal/state audits.
Strong background in federal and state all-hazard deployment compliance (e.g . EMAC, FEMA reimbursement, resource tracking).
Advanced analytical skills with expertise in Excel, database management, and visualization tools (Power BI Tableau).
Recognized for strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership support, with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations for department leadership and city officials.
Hands- on experience with multiple fire administration systems (ImageTrend, TeleStaff, AS-400, RMS, CAD, asset management software) to ensure seamless integration across finance, staffing, and operational reporting.
