Front End Developer - React - JavaScript

Job Title: Lead Front End Developer
Location: Dunton/Basildon Essex
Rate: £550- 600
Start Date: Mid April
Job Type: Contract 9 months

We're looking for an experienced Lead Frontend Developer to join a high-performing team delivering modern, scalable web applications.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll take ownership of Front End architecture, drive best practices, and mentor developers to build best-in-class user experiences.

Please note: This role requires 4 days per week on-site in Dunton - this is non-negotiable.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading the design and development of complex Front End applications
• Building scalable, component-based architectures using React
• Driving engineering best practices across the team (TDD, pair programming, code reviews)
• Mentoring and upskilling developers
• Collaborating closely with product, design, and Back End teams
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps processes

What We're Looking For (Essential)

• Strong background in Frontend Development
• Expert-level JavaScript and React experience
• Solid skills in HTML & CSS
• Experience with component-based architecture
• Exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, version control eg Git)
• Strong experience working in Agile environments (including TDD & pair programming)
• Proven leadership/mentoring experience
• Excellent communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience with modern testing frameworks (eg Jest, Cypress)
• Cloud platform exposure (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Performance optimisation experience
• Accessibility (a11y) best practices
