About the Team

The Government Economic and Social Research Team (GESR) is a friendly and dynamic team who support the Government Social Research (GSR) and Government Economic Service (GES) cross government professions.

We work to ensure that social researchers and economists have all the tools needed to produce the best analysis and evidence for policy makers in support of the entire range of UK Government and public service activities. We also work with external organisations as partners on things that matter like improving the use of evidence in policy making and growing diversity in recruitment.

The team is organised into a Strategy and an Operations team, who together deliver all the policies and commitments in the GSR and GES Strategies, working very closely with senior leaders. It is a high-profile team across both professions with extensive opportunities for leadership and professional development.

About the Job

In this role, you will:

• Lead on the curation, maintenance, updating and delivery of the GES & GSR Members' Intranet Sites including leading on sites Content Management System (CMS), delivering regular content updates (across the content spectrum - text, visual, audio and video), sourcing content from internal and external stakeholders, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, speaking to audience / membership, meeting member and professional needs, and ensuring stability of service and user experience.
• Lead on Supplier Management and continuous technical development of the GES & GSR Members Intranet Sites including leading on all aspects of engagement with, and management of, the contracted supplier of the GES & GSR Members' Intranet sites. This includes all related contract and financial management, such as leading on the operation and annual renewal of hosting, support, and maintenance services from the supplier.
• Lead on management and development of GOV.uk web pages related to GES & GSR;
• Corporate, Development and other Business activities

About You

We are looking for someone with the knowledge, skills and/or experience needed to lead and deliver continual curation, operation, maintenance and development of the Members' Intranet sites for the GES and GSR professions. The successful candidate will need to be able to: balance a variety of priorities; have the flexibility to respond to changes; and the ability to progress work without supervision and manage their own workload.The role would suit a proactive and self-motivated individual - as Website Lead the successful candidate will be expected to act on their own initiative, identify opportunities for improvement and then make those improvements happen, all within a team context.
