Hardware/Break-Fix Engineer (Contract)
Location: Bolton (Onsite - 5 Days Per Week)
Rate: £200 per day
Contract Length: Initial 2-month contract, with the potential to extend for a further 3 months
We are currently seeking a hands-on Hardware/Break-Fix Engineer to support a large-scale laptop refurbishment and repair project for one of our clients based in Bolton.
The successful contractor will be responsible for working through a backlog of over 100 Dell laptops, diagnosing faults, carrying out hardware repairs, and dismantling devices for parts where repair is not viable.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair hardware faults across Dell laptops
- Replace and repair components including:
- Keyboards
- Webcams
- Laptop hinges
- Screens and other hardware components
- Wipe and rebuild devices where required
- Dismantle non-repairable laptops and recover usable parts
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and parts inventory
- Ensure all devices are processed in line with company procedures
Technical Environment
- Dell laptop estate
- Primarily 10th and 11th Generation devices
- Mixture of NY22 and NY23 models
- Hardware repair, refurbishment, and asset recovery
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Hardware Engineer, Break-Fix Engineer, IT Technician, or Laptop Repair Technician role
- Strong hands-on experience repairing laptops and desktop hardware
- Experience working with Dell devices preferred
- Comfortable replacing components and diagnosing hardware failures
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Good attention to detail and documentation skills
Additional Information
- This role is fully onsite in Bolton, 5 days per week.
- Due to the nature of the end client, all successful applicants will be required to undergo a DBS check before commencing the assignment.
