Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance Consultant

Remote working within U.K - Travel to Glasgow and other U.K sites

Long term contract

Rates £500- £800 p/d Inside IR35 DOE

We are looking for an experienced Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Compliance role focused on legislative assurance, governance, and compliance management within a highly regulated Defence/Maritime environment.

We are not looking for candidates outside of Defence, Maritime, Armed Forces, Nuclear or any other safety critical industries.

You will be responsible for maintaining and updating legislative compliance registers, monitoring regulatory changes, and producing compliance reports. You will provide expert advice on compliance matters, support governance meetings, and work closely with key stakeholders to ensure legal and regulatory obligations are met.

Essential Requirements

  • Sole British (No dual nationalities due to the classification)
  • SC clearance
  • Proven experience delivering legislation registers and compliance reporting in a safety-critical, highly regulated environment.
  • SQEP equivalent to Senior Safety & Reliability Engineer; strong working knowledge of relevant UK HSE/environment/engineering regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience managing legislation registers and compliance reporting.
  • Ability to assess legislative impacts and provide practical compliance advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update UK legislation and regulatory compliance registers.
  • Produce the Annual Legislation Compliance Report, including environmental considerations.
  • Conduct up to three annual compliance deep-dive reviews and provide recommendations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Support governance meetings, actions, and reporting activities.
  • Maintain audit records and evidence in line with quality management requirements.
  • Deliver briefings, training materials, and knowledge-sharing activities as required.

Desirable

  • CEng, IEng, or relevant degree qualification.
  • Membership of IOSH, IET, BCS, or similar professional body.
  • Experience within defence, maritime, or submarine programmes.
  • Knowledge of MoD governance and assurance processes.
