Location: Hybrid - Remote/South West (2-3 days on site per week estimated)
Contract role: Inside IR35
Clearance: High level of clearance required
Rate: £500 - £600 per day
A major Defence programme is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineer to support the build and evolution of a large-scale secure virtualisation platform forming part of a critical national capability. This contract will suit someone who enjoys working in high-assurance technical environments, solving complex infrastructure challenges, and collaborating within disciplined engineering teams - particularly those with a military or defence background. If you've worked within Defence, Signals, CIS, or secure infrastructure environments, your background will translate well.
Opportunity
You'll be joining a specialist infrastructure team responsible for designing, building and validating the core virtual estate underpinning a secure Defence platform. This is a hands on engineering role - ideal for someone who enjoys deep technical work as well as contributing to design decisions, documentation and continuous improvement of platform capability. You'll work alongside architects, system testers, and service management teams to ensure the virtual infrastructure remains resilient, secure and ready to support operational demand.
