Join a new digital-design team focused on digitising up to 8 print & post forms into seamless online journeys. You'll collaborate with a larger digital forms delivery team to create user-friendly digital experiences, applying GDS design standards and patterns while exercising judgement and flexibility to iterate quickly and ensure designs meet user needs. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your decisions directly influence the usability and efficiency of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, refine, and implement digital forms using gov.uk Prototype Kit, HTML, and evidence-based user insights, ensuring the interfaces are intuitive, accessible, and visually consistent.
  • Collaborate closely with user researchers, content designers, service designers, developers, policy, and legal teams to align designs with organisational goals and practical constraints.
  • Ensure interfaces allow users to complete tasks quickly and accurately, providing a positive experience while reducing errors and frustration.
  • Adapt services proactively in response to policy, legislative, technology, or user changes, maintaining high standards of design while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Actively participate in workshops and reviews, providing feedback on design decisions and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with GDS standards, Prototype Kit, and HTML/CSS basics, with the ability to copy, modify, and integrate code efficiently.
  • Strong interaction design skills, including designing clear user flows, logical task sequences, and accessible interactions for diverse audiences.
  • Comfortable working hybrid, with 2 days on-site in Telford and remaining days remote, while managing multiple priorities and tight timelines.
  • Collaborative, evidence-driven approach to design, with excellent communication skills for translating complex ideas into actionable design solutions.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt, balancing autonomy with team collaboration to deliver high-quality digital journeys under time-sensitive conditions.

This is a 6-month hybrid opportunity ideal for designers confident in GDS standards who can combine creativity, evidence-based thinking, and practical execution to deliver high-quality, user-centered digital services.
