Company Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Charles River (CRD) Investment Compliance SME to lead a full end-to-end review and optimisation of the investment compliance framework.
Job Responsibilities/Objectives
This is a hands-on, specialist role requiring deep expertise in CRD compliance configuration and investment compliance processes, supporting a root-and-branch assessment of existing controls, rules, and workflows.
The successful candidate will act as the go-to subject matter expert, working across compliance, front office, and technology teams to assess, redesign, and enhance the current setup in line with regulatory and business requirements.
* Lead a comprehensive review of the Charles River (CRD) compliance framework, including rules, restrictions, and workflows.
* Assess current-state processes and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and control weaknesses.
* Define and implement target-state compliance models within CRD.
* Configure, enhance, and optimise pre- and post-trade compliance rules in Charles River.
* Provide hands-on SME guidance across investment compliance, system configuration, and best practices.
* Work closely with Compliance, Portfolio Managers, Operations, and Technology teams.
* Support regulatory alignment (FCA, MiFID II, UCITS, etc.) and ensure controls are robust and auditable.
* Assist with audit, remediation, and documentation activities (potentially within a consulting-led programme environment).
* Where required, support delivery oversight (light BA/PM responsibilities), ensuring timelines and outcomes are met.
Required Skills/Experience
The ideal candidate will have the following
* Deep, hands-on experience as a Charles River (CRD) SME, specifically within investment compliance
* Strong expertise in compliance rule coding/configuration, monitoring, and breach management in CRD.
* Proven track record delivering CRD reviews, implementations, or remediation programmes.
* Strong understanding of buy-side investment processes and compliance frameworks.
* Solid knowledge of UK/EU regulations (FCA, MiFID II, UCITS, etc.).* Ability to operate as a senior SME, influencing stakeholders and driving outcomes.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
