Schedule: 5am-130pm Tuesday to Saturday

Location: Lewisville TX 75067

Contract Length: 3 Months

Pay Range: $16/hr to $17.88/hr

Pay offered is based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.



Job Summary

The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides general support within the Specimen Processing Department. This role involves data entry and handling of laboratory specimens while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulations. The position is critical to maintaining quality standards and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced production environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specimen processing tasks including:
  • A-station operations
  • Presorting specimens
  • Pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory
  • Imaging/microfilming
  • Centrifugation and aliquoting
  • Enter data accurately (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour)
  • Ensure all tasks are completed with accuracy, confidence, and within required timelines
  • Understand and identify specimen types related to client test orders
  • Comply with changing test-ordering regulations and policies
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to daily operational changes and customer demands
  • Work in a biohazard environment while following safety protocols
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other staff levels
  • Support productivity, quality standards, and departmental turnaround times


Work Environment & Requirements

  • Production-based environment with focus on productivity and quality
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Exposure to biohazard materials; adherence to safety practices required
  • Majority of shifts are night shifts
  • Availability required for:
  • Weekends
  • Holidays
  • On-call duties
  • Overtime

Requirements:

  • Education: HighSchool
  • License(s): No
  • Certification(s): No
  • Years of experience: No prior experience required
  • Preferred:
  • Laboratory or specimen processing experience
  • Medical background and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Hospital laboratory experience
  • Experience in a production environmen
