Lead SAS Developer - Government Programme
£800 per day | Hybrid (2-3 days onsite in Newcastle) | SC Clearance Required

Sanderson Government & Defence is proud to be supporting a key government client in the search for a highly experienced Lead SAS Developer to join a major transformation programme within a central UK public sector organisation.

The Opportunity

As a Lead SAS Developer, you will take ownership of designing and delivering complex data integration and software solutions within a large-scale, multi-team environment. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will lead from the front-guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring best practice across the development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance SAS-based software solutions across enterprise systems

• Lead the implementation of robust ETL pipelines and data integration processes

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration

• Take ownership of technical decision-making and contribute to programme-wide strategy

• Conduct testing, debugging, and optimisation to maintain high-quality deliverables

• Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement

• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices

Skills & Experience Required

• Advanced expertise in SAS Data Integration Studio

• Strong experience in custom application development and software engineering principles

• Proven capability with SAS DataFlux ETL tools

• Experience with SAS Event Stream Processing (highly desirable)

• Demonstrated leadership experience within complex delivery environments

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Essential Requirements

• Active SC (Security Clearance), or eligibility to obtain clearance

• Ability to work onsite in Newcastle 2-3 days per week
