Location: Manchester
Rate: Up to £350 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: Initial 2-month contract (potential extension)
Start: Immediate/ASAP

I'm seeking a Linux Installations Engineer to support a fast-paced environment in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a contractor with good Linux deployment and installation expertise to join a critical project delivering infrastructure and system rollouts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform installation, configuration, and deployment of Linux systems (physical and virtual)

• Build and configure Servers in line with project and operational requirements

• Execute scripted and manual installations across multiple environments

• Support system integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities

• Work closely with infrastructure, engineering, and project teams to meet delivery timelines

• Document installation procedures and configurations clearly

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Good hands-on experience with Linux distributions such as RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar

• Proven experience performing Linux server installations and builds

• Solid understanding of system configuration, networking, and troubleshooting

• Familiarity with automation or Scripting (Bash, Shell, or similar)

• Experience working in project-driven or deployment-focused environments

• Ability to work efficiently on-site in Manchester

Desirable:

• Experience with enterprise infrastructure environments

• Knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)

• Exposure to configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
