Linux / Unix Engineer. (SC Cleared)

Manchester / Hybrid

Inside IR35 - £480 per day

Initial 3 months contract.

Our Central Government client is looking for a strong hands-on Unix/Linux engineer with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, required to support a security-critical production estate including legacy Solaris platforms.

Key Technical Skills:

• Linux Administration
• RHEL / CentOS (or equivalent)
• Performance troubleshooting, patching, system management
• Solaris
• Strong experience administering legacy Solaris systems
• ZFS, system stability, and production support

• Core Unix Engineering
• OS-level troubleshooting (CPU, memory, disk, services)
• System patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
• Scripting / automation (shell, basic tooling)
• Production Support
• Experience in live enterprise environments
• Incident, problem, and change execution

Environment

Secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure

Mixed Linux and legacy Unix estate requiring specialist support capability

This is a short-term requirement for a technically strong Security-Cleared Unix engineer with Solaris expertise, capable of operating independently in a controlled, production environment to support exit delivery. You must hold Active SC clearance
