Job Summary

The primary focus of the Managing Director is to provide capital markets services including public offerings of equity and convertible debt, PIPEs, Registered Direct offerings, and private placements of equity and debt securities. This position integrates Northland's expertise in Equity Sales and Trading and Investment Banking, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. The group delivers fresh ideas and broad distribution to help clients maximize each stage of a transaction and continually develops capital markets solutions to enable clients to mitigate strategic, operational, credit, and market risks.

Responsibilities
  • Drive activities and strategies for sell side and buy side engagements.
  • Partner with institutional sales, traders, and internal and external partners to develop, market, and deliver complex solutions to clients.
  • Adhere to and enforce compliance with firm and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead preparation of documentation and materials.
  • Market and negotiate transactions.
  • Lead deal teams in execution of financing transactions, including public offerings, private placements, and PIPE transactions.
  • Work with investment bankers to ensure prompt and effective execution of transactions.
  • Provide support with new business development, including identification and prioritization of potential clients, development and delivery of pitches, and participation in marketing at appropriate industry events.
  • Take initiative in developing junior team members through formal project work and informal coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
  • Relevant industry experience in consumer, industrials, media, communications, energy, financials, real estate, materials, or utilities investment banking.
  • Energy, utilities, real estate, and communications experience is preferred.
  • Significant experience in the execution of financing transactions, including sell side, buy side, and debt transactions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, provide complex financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions with a proven track record on executed deals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Develops and maintains client and investor relationships.
  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and commitment to a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • BA/BS degree required.
  • FINRA SIE, 7, 63 and Series 79 license (or equivalent registrations).
  • MBA highly desirable.
  • Minimum of five years in investment banking or capital markets, with at least one year at the director or equivalent level.

Travel

Travel is an integral part of this role and will be based on individual client needs. 50%+ travel is expected.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary expected to start at a minimum of $200,000+, with total compensation commensurate with experience, market alignment, and overall candidate qualifications. The compensation structure is designed to be competitive with managing director level opportunities within the industry.

Compensation includes a competitive base salary, bonus potential, and long term incentives.
