Manufacturing IT/OT Support Technician
Location: Siemens Energy - Worcester, UK
Contract: 6 months initial (likely extension)
Working Pattern: 5 days on site, 8 hours/day, Mon-Fri
Rate: £40-£54/hour (Inside IR35 via umbrella)

Role Overview
Hands-on IT/OT support role in a live manufacturing environment, supporting production-critical systems, industrial connectivity, and factory digital infrastructure. Focus on uptime, troubleshooting, cybersecurity compliance, and IT/OT integration.
Key Responsibilities
OT & Production Support
- Support and troubleshoot OT systems (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, industrial PCs)
- Resolve production incidents and minimise downtime
- Support machine connectivity and industrial systems
Networks & Infrastructure
- Maintain and troubleshoot OT network connectivity (industrial Ethernet, Switches, VLANs)
- Support secure connectivity for production and vendor equipment
- Maintain network and system documentation
Systems & Projects
- Support IIoT and manufacturing digitalisation initiatives
- Assist with IT/OT project implementation and system upgrades
- Support MES/SCADA/industrial software where applicable
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Support secure OT operations aligned with IEC 62443/ISO 27001
- Assist with patching, secure configuration, and vulnerability management
- Support incident response for cyber/operational events
Asset & Service Support
- Maintain OT asset inventory and documentation
- Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
- Provide occasional support cover for IT user support functions
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, and IT teams
- Act as a technical bridge between IT and OT environments
- Communicate issues clearly across technical and non-technical teams
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in industrial/manufacturing OT environments
- Strong troubleshooting skills (IT/OT systems)
- Good networking knowledge (TCP/IP, switching, industrial networks)
- Experience with PLCs, HMIs, or industrial systems
- Strong communication and independent working ability
Desirable
- IIoT/OPC UA/machine connectivity experience
- SCADA or MES exposure
- Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity standards (IEC 62443, ISO 27001)
- Cloud manufacturing platforms (eg, AWS Connected Factory)
