Medical Technologist II (MLS/MT) - Full Time Make a Difference Where Every Test Matters

As a Medical Technologist II, you will perform and interpret complex laboratory testing, utilize advanced laboratory technology, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to support exceptional patient outcomes. What You'll Do Perform Advanced Laboratory Testing
  • Analyze patient specimens using automated instrumentation and manual testing methods.
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Evaluate specimen quality and acceptability for testing.
  • Assist with specimen collection and preparation as needed.
  • Prepare specimens for referral testing at outside laboratories.
  • Interpret, verify, and report laboratory results accurately and efficiently.
Support Quality and Patient Safety
  • Recognize and communicate critical values and abnormal results to appropriate clinical staff.
  • Evaluate the clinical significance of laboratory data.
  • Participate in quality control programs to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
  • Document corrective actions and maintain quality assurance records.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment.
  • Adhere to infection control, chemical hygiene, confidentiality, and safety standards.
Collaborate and Lead
  • Serve as a resource for laboratory and non-laboratory personnel.
  • Train and mentor coworkers, students, and new team members.
  • Assist with onboarding and competency training activities.
  • Participate in procedure reviews, revisions, and implementation of new testing methods.
  • Support research, method evaluation, and process improvement initiatives.
Manage Laboratory Operations
  • Monitor inventory and order reagents, supplies, and consumables to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Receive, label, store, and organize laboratory supplies.
  • Create and maintain work aids, logs, and related documentation.
  • Coordinate effectively with clinical departments to resolve specimen and testing issues.
Utilize Laboratory Technology
  • Maintain proficiency with laboratory information systems and hospital computer applications.
  • Report instrument malfunctions and perform minor repairs when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with technical support and service representatives as needed.
  • Attend training on new equipment, software, and procedures.
What We're Looking For Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
Required Experience
  • Up to 3 years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience as a certified MLS/MT, or
  • Certification-eligible new MLS graduate.
Required Certification
  • Current MT/MLS certification through ASCP or equivalent certifying agency, or
  • Appropriate categorical certification through ASCP or equivalent.
