Network Engineer

Network Engineer - £475/day via Umbrella - 6 Month Contract - Leeds - Hybrid - SCC Flex Contract

We are seeking an experienced Cisco SD-WAN Engineer to support the design, deployment, and optimisation of a large-scale enterprise WAN transformation programme. This Cisco SD-WAN Engineer role focuses on delivering secure, resilient, and scalable connectivity across a highly distributed estate, working closely with internal network teams, architects, and third-party providers.

Your responsibilities as the Cisco SD-WAN Engineer:

• Contribute to high-level and low-level design (HLD/LLD) for Cisco SD-WAN solutions.
• Define site-specific configurations for branch, depot, and hub locations.
• Support integration of SD-WAN with existing MPLS, broadband, and LTE underlays.
• Design secure connectivity aligned to SASE and zero-trust principles.
• Deliver end-to-end SD-WAN deployments across multiple sites.
• Lead or support site discovery, build, configuration, and cutover activities.
• Execute brownfield network migrations to Cisco SD-WAN architectures.
• Perform proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Optimise application routing, QoS, and traffic-steering policies.
• Liaise with third-party vendors and service providers.
• Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to stakeholders.
• Produce and maintain LLDs, configuration templates, migration runbooks, and as-built documentation.

As a successful Cisco SD-WAN Engineer, you will have:

• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela and/or Meraki).
• Solid experience with Cisco routing and switching (IOS/IOS-XE).
• Proven knowledge of WAN technologies including MPLS, DIA, broadband, and LTE.
• Experience with VPN technologies such as IPsec and DMVPN.
• Strong understanding of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
• Familiarity with network security integration, segmentation, and SASE concepts.
• Proven experience delivering multi-site SD-WAN deployments or migrations.
• Background working in large enterprise or distributed environments (eg logistics, retail, field-based estates).
• Experience contributing to network transformation or refresh programmes.
