Network Engineering Lead - Packet Core

Lead the design, evolution, and life cycle management of 4G and 5G Core network platforms, driving the transition to cloud-native architectures while ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing data services.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical strategy and roadmap for Packet Core platforms including MME, AMF, GGSN, PGW, UPF, IPX/GRX, DNS, NAT, and Security Gateways.
- Lead the design, integration, and deployment of new network capabilities and services.
- Drive network transformation programmes, including virtualisation, automation, and 5G Core migration initiatives.
- Ensure platforms deliver high levels of performance, resilience, security, and service availability.
- Work closely with architecture, operations, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
- Monitor KPIs, support major incident resolution, and drive continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise across EPC and 5G Core technologies, including MME, AMF, SGW, PGW, UPF, IPX/GRX, NAT, and DPI.
- Excellent understanding of LTE and 5G SA networks, roaming, QoS, policy management, and traffic optimisation.
- Experience with NFV, cloud-native network functions, Kubernetes, automation, and CI/CD.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale Packet Core transformation programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management, vendor engagement, and leadership capabilities.
- Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
