Observability Engineer
Initial 6-month contract

London -Hybrid 2/3 days onsite
We are looking for an Observability Engineer to support the implementation and adoption of Dynatrace, working closely with teams across Front Office Support, IT, Data, and Architecture. This role is to support the cross-department Observability programme to deliver Real Time monitoring, alerting, and remediation across critical trading and data infrastructure. Following a successful proof of concept, Dynatrace has been selected as the enterprise observability platform and will be rolled out across the organisation during 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the rollout and configuration of Dynatrace, including deployment of OneAgents and monitoring configuration.
- Work with engineering and architecture teams to translate system architecture and data flows into monitoring and alerting solutions.
- Implement and support OpenTelemetry instrumentation across key applications.
- Leverage expertise in Dynatrace to set up and configure solution and create robust documentation on end-to-end processes.
- Define and monitor system metrics and service level indicators (SLIs).
- Perform root cause analysis across distributed systems using platform and application logs.
- Encourage and enable the adoption of observability tools to drive product enhancements and promote more reliable infrastructure
- Produce documentation and help establish observability standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with teams to implement logging, monitoring, and data quality metrics across core systems.
Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, including OneAgent deployment and configuration.
- Experience investigating issues in complex distributed systems.
- Experience leveraging OpenTelemetry to deliver monitoring, debugging or system performance reporting.
- Familiarity with SLIs and system performance monitoring.
- Experience working with cloud and on-premise environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using SQL and Python for analysis.
Desirable
- Experience with data orchestration tools (Dagster preferred).
- Experience supporting monitoring for data platforms or distributed applications.
