Payroll Administrator

Job Type: Full-time, TemporaryLocation: Guildhall, EC2V 7HHRate: £20.86 per hour PAYE / £27.80 per hour Umbrella

The City of London Corporation are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join the project team on an interim basis. This role is focused on project-related payroll activities, including testing, process development, data validation and stakeholder coordination, to ensure a smooth transition to a new payroll system.

You will work in a fast-paced project setting alongside colleagues in Payroll, HR, Finance, IT and external system partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the payroll implementation project through process mapping, workflow documentation and identification of system changes
• Assist with the creation, testing and refinement of payroll processes aligned to the new system
• Participate in system testing activities, including UAT and parallel runs
• Log, track and support resolution of system defects
• Validate payroll data during migration and testing phases to ensure accuracy and integrity
• Produce and maintain project documentation such as process guides, user instructions and test scripts
• Support issue resolution during testing, escalating where appropriate
• Assist with reporting and outputs used for project tracking and validation
• Support system controls and access management during implementation
• Prepare training materials and assist with knowledge transfer to end users
• Undertake data checks and reconciliations to support assurance and audit requirements
• Provide general administrative support to the payroll project team as required

Essential knowledge & experience

• Good understanding of payroll processes and systems
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of data accuracy
• Awareness of payroll legislation and compliance requirements
• Experience supporting payroll system implementations or upgrades
• Experience in data validation, reconciliation or testing activities
• Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Desirable

• Experience working in a project or change environment
• Exposure to payroll systems such as SAP, Midland iTrent, Civica or similar
