Payroll Advisor
Salary: Up to £40,000
Length: 6 months initially
Location: Leeds- hybrid (remote working possible)
Oakleaf Partnership are working with a leading global organisation to recruit a Payroll Advisor on an initial 6-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to join a collaborative team, supporting accurate and efficient payroll delivery within a complex, multi-location environment.
What is the role?
The Payroll Advisor will be responsible for supporting the delivery of monthly outsourced payrolls for the UK and Dubai, ensuring employee payments, data changes and payroll processes are completed accurately, efficiently and in line with business, legal and regulatory requirements.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external payroll providers, you will play a key role in maintaining payroll accuracy, resolving employee queries, supporting audits and identifying opportunities to improve processes.
Responsibilities
- Partner with payroll vendors to support bi-weekly payroll processing and system changes, ensuring data is accurate, complete and compliant with business, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all time entry is accurately recorded, approved and maintained for payroll processing.
- Process employee data changes including new hires, terminations, direct deposits and tax elections, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Manage pay and deduction inputs, including interfaces and file feeds, in partnership with payroll providers.
- Support audit preparation by providing payroll information, reviewing audit reports and resolving discrepancies.
- Create and maintain payroll reports, analysing data integrity and identifying trends, discrepancies and root causes.
- Investigate and resolve employee payroll queries, providing a timely and professional service.
- Escalate issues where required and work collaboratively to improve processes and employee experience.
- Support process improvements by identifying efficiencies, improving workflows and implementing solutions.
- Manage payroll tax-related activities including agency notices, tax registrations, employee and vendor tax setup, audits, quarterly and year-end tax processes, amendments and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience working within a payroll function, ideally within a complex or multi-location environment.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, controls and compliance requirements.
- Experience managing payroll data, employee changes and payroll-related queries.
- Ability to analyse data, identify discrepancies and implement effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with enterprise payroll systems such as SAP (ADP GlobalView), Workday or similar would be advantageous.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll environments and local tax requirements would be beneficial.
