Overview

We are seeking a SFIA Level 4 Performance Analyst to join our client's Identity and Trust team, supporting high-profile Central Government digital services that help citizens prove their identity and access the government support they need. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key part in the transition of DWP services to GOV.UK One Login, using data and insight to measure how well services meet user needs and to drive continuous improvement. The successful candidate will combine strong analytics tooling expertise with the ability to translate complex findings into actionable insight for both technical and non-technical audiences. This is a delivery-focused role within an Agile, user-centred environment aligned to GDS standards, where success means clearer performance measurement and demonstrably better outcomes for users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand user needs and define the measures used to assess whether services are meeting those needs.
  • Develop and maintain performance frameworks, key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboards and reporting to measure and communicate service performance effectively.
  • Analyse user journeys using digital analytics and other data sources, identifying opportunities to improve service outcomes.
  • Bring together Front End and Back End data to build a more rounded and complete understanding of service performance and user outcomes.
  • Deliver high-quality analysis and performance reporting that provides actionable insight and proactively surfaces opportunities to improve user experiences.
  • Provide expert guidance on performance measurement, analytics implementation and data collection across multiple sources.
  • Build strong relationships with multidisciplinary service teams, using analysis and insight to support continuous service improvement.
  • Communicate complex findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, tailoring outputs to support decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the successful delivery of major digital initiatives, including the move to GOV.UK One Login.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience working as a Performance Analyst at SFIA Level 4 on digital services, ideally within the public sector.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google BigQuery.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data across multiple sources.
  • Experience building dashboards and reporting using a data visualisation tool such as Google Data Studio (Looker Studio), Power BI or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to work with developers to develop and brief schemas, ensuring the correct data points are captured and tracking is futureproofed where possible.
  • Able to identify data capture issues and communicate and escalate them through the appropriate channels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear, actionable insight for a range of audiences.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
  • BPSS clearance (or eligibility to obtain it).

Nice To Have

  • Experience using Google Tag Manager (GTM).
  • Previous experience delivering within UK Central Government or the wider public sector.
  • Exposure to GOV.UK One Login or comparable identity and trust services.
