  • Location: Dublin (Hybrid - 3 days onsite per week)
  • Contract Length: Initial 6-Month Contract
  • Conversion: Strong expectation to transition to a permanent employee after 6 months

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Performance Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team responsible for ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of critical payment applications. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys deep technical analysis, performance optimization, and collaborating closely with development teams to resolve complex application issues.

You will play a key role in identifying performance bottlenecks, conducting root cause analysis, and driving improvements across application landscape. Leveraging tools such as Dynatrace, you will analyse application behaviour, investigate problematic code paths, and partner with software developers to optimise performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct end-to-end performance testing of enterprise-scale applications and services.
  • Utilize Dynatrace and other monitoring tools to identify application performance bottlenecks.
  • Analyse application metrics, transaction traces, logs, and infrastructure data to diagnose issues.
  • Investigate performance degradation and pinpoint problematic code or system components.
  • Work directly with software development teams to review and optimise code.
  • Perform root cause analysis and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Design, execute, and maintain performance test plans and strategies.
  • Validate application scalability, stability, and responsiveness under varying load conditions.
  • Monitor system performance throughout development and production life cycles.
  • Create performance reports and communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and performance engineering best practices.

Required Experience

  • 4-5 years of Experience in Performance Engineering, Performance Testing, or Application Performance Monitoring roles.
  • Strong hands-on Experience with Dynatrace.
  • Proven Experience identifying and resolving application performance issues.
  • Experience analysing application code and collaborating with developers to optimise performance.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with performance testing methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to perform detailed root cause analysis and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
