Our client, a leading entity in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer on a contract basis to join their esteemed team. This role is pivotal to their operations across multiple locations, including Cowes, Great Baddow, and Broad Oak.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery of solutions.
- Develop and review detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems within defence and security projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, including BPSS and ITAR.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients to understand project requirements and deliver accordingly.
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a mechanical engineer within the defence sector.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in mechanical design tools and software.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work on-site for four days a week at specified locations.
- Understanding of BPSS and SC in-flight processes.
- Compliance with ITAR and IR35 regulations.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
