Product Owner - Fincrime Monitoring and Protection

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Product Owner for a 6 month contract based in London (2 days per week) with remote working available.

Purpose of the role:

As the Product Owner for a new FinCrime-Monitoring-as-a-Service (FinMaaS) platform, the Product Owner will lead the vision, strategy and delivery of a product that helps customers detect, prevent and reduce financial crime harm.

Working at the intersection of product, engineering, compliance and risk, the Product Owner will shape a platform that is competitive, reliable, flexible and built for the future of Embedded finance.
Join our client's agile product team and lead the new Fincrime-Monitoring-as-a-service (FinMaaS).

What you'll do:

• Conduct research and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Own the FinMaaS product and be responsible for ensuring it is capable of supporting current and emerging use cases.
• Build the best overall picture for your assigned product areas.
• Prioritise the squad backlog, deciding what gets worked on and in what order in consultation with the cross functional team and stakeholders
• Break EPICs into detailed user stories and feature specifications in JIRA for the team to pick up and build (story, acceptance criteria and scenarios)
• Work with the Tech Lead to set objectives for sprints and ensure the quality of output (ensuring Product Governance processes are adhered to) with particular focus on risk, regulatory compliance, and on financial crime harm reduction.
• Collaborate internally and externally to ensure that our Fincrime protection product is competitive, reliable, flexible and scalable.

The skills you'll need:

• Proven experience in product ownership.
• Relevant experience in some of the following areas: Embedded finance, payments, AML transaction monitoring, fraud profiling/monitoring, international payment filtering, BaaS, SaaS.
• Experience leading successful B2B2C products throughout the product life cycle
• A T-shaped profile with all-round business and technical skills as well as deep product discovery, design and development experience.
• Understanding of API (and associated documentation) and mobile application development.
• Customer and metrics-focused.
• High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
• Excellent stakeholder relationship building and collaboration skills with proven ability to balance customer and regulatory needs.
• Demonstrated ability to produce conclusive, measurable results.
