An experienced Risk Data Business Analyst is required to support a large-scale Data Governance and BCBS239 programme across a complex EMEA financial services environment. This role sits at the intersection of Risk, Data, and Technology, driving improvements in data quality, governance, and architecture across multiple risk domains.

The position plays a key role in embedding data governance practices across the organisation, ensuring that risk data is accurate, complete, and fit for purpose. It also involves influencing stakeholders and promoting a strong data-driven culture where governance principles are still evolving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation of data governance frameworks across Risk domains in alignment with BCBS239 principles

  • Own end-to-end data definition, lineage, and governance for priority use cases

  • Partner with stakeholders across Risk (Credit, Market, Liquidity, Operational) to ensure high-quality, reliable data

  • Monitor and manage changes to data requirements, ensuring alignment with change and release management processes

  • Support the design and adoption of data standards, policies, and governance controls

  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder sessions to elicit, define, and document business and data requirements

  • Produce key Business Analysis artefacts, including:

    • Requirements documentation

    • Traceability matrices

    • Target Operating Models (TOMs)

    • Terms of Reference

  • Collaborate with business, technology, and compliance teams to ensure clear definition and prioritisation of data-related initiatives

  • Investigate data quality issues, identify root causes, and define remediation strategies to resolve issues at source

  • Contribute to broader data strategy initiatives, supporting improvements in data architecture, management, and usage

  • Promote a culture of transparency, innovation, and continuous improvement in data practices

Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience in data governance, data quality, and data management frameworks

  • Good understanding of BCBS239 principles and regulatory expectations

  • Broad knowledge of risk domains including Credit, Market, Liquidity, and Operational Risk

  • Proven experience working within data programmes in Tier 1 or Tier 2 financial institutions

  • Strong ability to analyse complex data structures and risk calculations

  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis and project delivery, including running workshops and managing stakeholders

  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and drive change across all levels

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint for data analysis and process modelling

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Experience with data governance tools (eg Collibra)

  • Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau

  • Working knowledge of SQL, VBA, or similar tools

  • Understanding of data-related regulatory requirements

  • Experience within regulated financial services environments

  • Familiarity with emerging trends in data management and governance

  • Experience supporting regulatory initiatives or large-scale transformation programmes
