Location: Remote, with occasional travel for workshops (London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle)

We are seeking an experienced SAS Viya Lead Technical Architect to take ownership of the design and delivery of a SAS Viya platform within a complex, secure environment. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a technical authority who can shape architecture, guide delivery teams and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end technical architecture and design of the SAS Viya platform
  • Define architectural standards, principles and best practice across the programme
  • Oversee platform deployment, configuration, integration and migration activities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and delivery teams
  • Engage with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Ensure the platform meets security, performance, scalability and resilience requirements
  • Facilitate technical workshops and design sessions with both technical and non-technical audiences

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect with deep, hands-on expertise in SAS Viya
  • Strong background in platform architecture, deployment and integration (cloud and/or on-premise)
  • Experience designing solutions within secure or regulated environments
  • Solid understanding of data management, analytics and platform administration
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor technical teams
  • Active SC Clearance is essential (candidates must hold current clearance to be considered)

Desirable

  • Experience with SAS administration and migration from SAS 9 to Viya
  • Knowledge of containerisation (Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP)
  • Public sector or government delivery experience
