Oracle Database Specialist (SC Cleared)

We're supporting a major programme within a secure, data-intensive environment and are looking for an experienced Oracle Database Specialist to join on an urgent contract. This role will suit someone who thrives in complex delivery settings, enjoys solving deep technical challenges, and can embed seamlessly within high-performing engineering teams.

The Role
You'll take ownership of Oracle database performance, working closely with development and test teams to diagnose, optimise, and enhance database efficiency across a large-scale, multi-supplier programme. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical capability and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Oracle RDBMS performance analysis and tuning activities
  • Diagnose and resolve complex database performance issues
  • Work closely with development and test teams to support delivery
  • Optimise PL/SQL code and database structures
  • Support Oracle environments hosted on AWS (IaaS)
  • Contribute to problem triage and technical issue resolution across the programme

Essential

  • Strong expertise in Oracle RDBMS performance tuning and analysis tools
  • Deep knowledge of PL/SQL
  • Experience running Oracle databases on AWS (IaaS)
  • Proven experience working on large, complex, multi-supplier programmes
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Active SC Clearance

Desirable

  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence
  • Public sector project experience
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments

The Details

  • Contract: 6 months (likely extension)
  • IR35: Inside
  • Rate: £550-600 per day
  • Location: Flexible with 1-2 days per week on-site in London
  • Start: ASAP
