SCADA Engineer - 6 months, Wokingham (Onsite) - Outside IR35

In this role, you will support the implementation, validation, and testing of SCADA/EMS systems within a power/utility environment. You will work closely with engineers, system integrators, and stakeholders to ensure system functionality, integration, and performance meet operational requirements.

The role focuses on system testing, configuration, and integration across SCADA platforms, with exposure to GE PowerOn Reliance where relevant.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and validation of SCADA/EMS systems across functional and integration layers.
• Design and execute test cases covering system functionality, interfaces, and performance.
• Work with stakeholders to understand system requirements, workflows, and operational needs.
• Collaborate with Agile teams (POs, engineers, testers) to define user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Monitor and report testing progress using tools such as JIRA/XRAY.
• Identify, document, and manage defects, risks, and issues across testing phases.
• Ensure adherence to defined test strategies, plans, and delivery processes.
• Support configuration and setup of SCADA environments for testing and simulation.
• Work across multiple environments (server, desktop, and integration layers).
• Provide support during system deployment and transition activities.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience working with SCADA or EMS systems within utilities, energy, or industrial environments.
• Experience with system integration, testing, and validation of control systems.
• Good understanding of power systems, grid operations, or transmission/distribution environments.
• Experience working with industry protocols (eg IEC 101, IEC 104, IEC 61850).
• Hands-on experience with Windows/Linux server environments.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments and cross-functional teams.
• Strong experience with test management tools (eg JIRA, XRAY).
• Understanding of IT/OT environments and system integration challenges.
• Exposure to GE PowerOn Reliance or similar SCADA platforms (desirable, not essential).
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Contract Details

• Location: Wokingham (5 days onsite)
• Duration: 6 months
• Daily Rate: £450 per day Outside IR35
