On behalf of HM Land Registry, we are looking for a Security Architect (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Hybrid in Plymouth.
The role supports the governance, assurance, and design of HM Land Registry's Technical Architecture estate. A Security Architect creates and designs security for a system or service, maintains security documentation and develops architecture patterns and security approaches to innovative technologies. The post holder will keep up to date with advances affecting their technical domain and will be aware of, and take account of, cross-government initiatives. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-level designs and artefacts that describe HMLR Architecture, will understand the relevant strategies that influence these and will contribute to wider activities that define future roadmaps.
The role
HM Land Registry is looking for an experienced Security Architect to join its Security Architecture team on an assurance and architecture assignment.
This role focuses on assuring multiple products across the organisation, ensuring security is designed in from the outset, proportionate to risk, and compliant.
There is a growing demand for AI related security assessments, so experience assessing emerging technologies and associated risks is highly valuable.
As a Security Architect, your main responsibilities will be to:
. Assure the security of multiple products and services across HMLR.
. Review designs to identify risks, vulnerabilities and security concerns.
. Build relationships with our external vendors and other government departments.
. Advise on proportionate security controls.
. Produce security specifications and architecture artefacts.
. Support security impact and design assessments.
. Work with Data Protection, Fraud and other internal teams to ensure safe delivery.
. Demonstrate an understanding of security end-to-end, from security considerations in the design of services, through to architecture reviews, threat modelling, controls and remediation against existing live services.
. Provide trusted security advice to technical and non technical stakeholders.
Essential:
. Proven experience as a Security Architect working in an assurance or design capacity.
. Strong understanding of risk based security design and proportional controls.
. Pragmatic mindset - able to adapt approach for different products and contexts.
. Confident stakeholder engagement skills; able to influence without blocking delivery.
. Background in security architecture, security design or security assurance.
. Exposure to cloud environments (Azure and/or AWS).
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
Desirable:
. Familiarity with security architecture frameworks such as SABSA and/or TOGAF.
. Experience contributing to architecture governance or design authority forums.
. Experience assessing security implications of emerging technologies, including AI.
