What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Financial Risk Internal Audit team within Group Internal Audit (GIA). In this role, you will support the delivery of Financial Risk audits across Bank of Ireland Group, helping to strengthen risk management and internal controls. You will work alongside experienced audit professionals, gain exposure to senior stakeholders, and build a deep understanding of how the Group operates. This role is well suited to someone with audit experience who is motivated to make a positive and meaningful impact.

In this role, you will:
  • Support audit planning by carrying out background research and preparing audit documentation.
  • Perform audit testing to help evaluate internal controls and business processes, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Contribute to the delivery of audit engagements by completing assigned work accurately, on time and within agreed budgets.
  • Keep the Audit Lead informed of progress, raising any issues or delays promptly.
  • Maintain clear, accurate and well organised audit documentation in line with Group Internal Audit methodology and quality standards.
What will make you stand out?

You bring experience in internal or external audit, ideally with exposure to Financial Reporting within Financial Services. You understand internal audit methodologies and are familiar with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards. You communicate clearly and confidently, both in writing and in conversation, and can explain information in a straightforward way. You pay close attention to detail and take pride in delivering well structured, accurate work, even when working to tight timelines. You are self motivated, enthusiastic and bring positive energy to your work, with a genuine desire to learn and contribute to improving how the organisation operates.

Essential qualifications

Qualified or working towards a relevant Internal Audit qualification (Certified Internal Auditor or Certified Information Systems Auditor) or an accountancy qualification (ACA or ACCA).

Group Internal Audit (GIA) is the third line of defence for Bank of Ireland Group. Our purpose is to help make Bank of Ireland better by providing independent assurance on the effectiveness of the Group's risk management and internal control frameworks. The Financial Risk Internal Audit team delivers risk based audits across the Group and engages regularly with senior management, governance committees, regulators and external auditors. This role is based in Baggot Plaza and is a hybrid role. We typically ask colleagues to spend a minimum of 8 days per month working in person to support collaboration and connection. Specific arrangements will be confirmed by your recruiter to ensure they meet the needs of the role and team.
