Senior Backend Engineer (SC Cleared) | 6-Month Contract | Remote | £615/day (Inside IR35)

Company Overview

Our client is a leading global technology consulting firm delivering complex digital transformation programmes across the UK public sector. They are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join one of their delivery teams supporting a high-profile engagement with the National Crime Agency (NCA).

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a mission-critical programme, developing secure, scalable Back End services within a modern cloud-native environment.

Role Overview

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll act as the technical lead for Back End development within an agile delivery pod. You'll be responsible for designing and delivering robust, event-driven systems using CQRS principles, helping to build highly scalable and resilient services for the end client.

Working closely with architects, engineers and technical stakeholders, you'll drive best practices across Back End development while contributing to the design of distributed systems and cloud-native applications.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading Back End development within an agile delivery team
• Designing and implementing event-driven architectures using CQRS principles
• Building scalable, resilient distributed systems and Back End services
• Developing secure APIs and integrating messaging services
• Collaborating with architects and cross-functional engineering teams
• Driving engineering best practice, code quality and technical excellence

What They're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with CQRS (essential and non-negotiable)
• Experience designing and building event-driven architectures
• Strong knowledge of Event Sourcing patterns
• Commercial experience with .NET, Java or Python
• Experience with Azure Service Bus or similar messaging technologies
• Strong API development experience (RESTful services)
• Experience building cloud-native, distributed systems
• Active SC Clearance is essential
