Senior Commercial Manager/Strategic Relationship Manager - Construction NEC experience

Location: Hybrid - UK Wide

Rate: £650 per day (Inside IR35)

Duration: 12 months

Security Clearance: BPSS (required)

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Relationship Manager with strong SRM expertise, NEC contract knowledge, and a solid background in construction environments. This is a high-impact role supporting the delivery of complex, high-value contracts within a public sector setting.

You will operate at a senior level, managing key commercial relationships, driving value, and influencing stakeholders across a complex multi-supplier landscape.Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial activity from strategy through to contract award, ensuring robust governance and complianceEstablish and manage open, competitive procurement procedures

Oversee NEC-based contracts and ensure alignment across scope, documentation, and commercial terms

Collaborate with Legal teams to draft and negotiate contract terms and conditions

Manage strategic supplier relationships, driving performance and long-term value

Deliver high-risk, high-value frameworks and contractsIdentify and mitigate commercial risks, leading pre- and post-contract negotiations

Influence senior stakeholders and suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes

Resolve disputes and drive agreement across complex stakeholder groups

Essential Experience

Proven experience in Strategic Relationship Management (SRM) or senior stakeholder/partnership roles

Strong construction sector experience, including commercial delivery and supply chain understanding

Experience working within or alongside the public sector/government environment

Track record of operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments

Key Skills

Strong strategic thinking with a proactive, solution-led approach

Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, up to executive level

Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial frameworks

Ability to manage multiple workstreams and long-term objectives

Confident decision-maker, comfortable working autonomously

Ability to analyse complex information and translate into clear commercial insight
