About the team

Department: Technical Operations

Reports to: DSP Functional Lead

Our Biologics team comprises of highly qualified, dynamic and welcoming colleagues. We support our clients by delivering world class bioprocess development to accelerate the delivery of quality, life-changing medicines to the patient across a wide range of therapeutic areas from oncolytic vaccines to rare genetic diseases.

Our team vision is to enhance the bioprocess development experience for our clients in a dynamic and cross-collaborative environment (APC Engineering, APC Biologics, APC Analytical, APC Quality & VLE GMP Manufacturing).

Technical and Operational Abilities

  • Design, develop, and characterize purification processes across modalities
  • Deep experience in core unit operations:
  • Harvest, buffer prep, chromatography (AKTA; affinity, IEX, SEC, multimodal)
  • Clarification & TFF (UF/DF)
  • Viral clearance (filtration & inactivation)

Strong understanding of:

  • cGMP compliance, regulatory expectations, and CMC development
  • Optimize yield, purity, robustness, and cycle time through data-driven approaches
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies (automation, high-throughput, single-use systems)
  • Assess scalability, process economics, and manufacturability
  • Provide operational support, troubleshooting, and deviation investigations
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement CAPAs, change controls, and continuous improvement

Author, review, and own:

  • Protocols, reports, SOPs, and technical documents
  • CMC documentation for regulatory submissions
  • Translate complex process challenges into actionable scientific solutions
  • Troubleshoot unit operations and improve system performance
  • Implement Lean, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives
  • Operate effectively in ambiguous environments without established procedures
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • High level of scientific rigor and problem-solving capability

Leadership & Project Delivery

  • Act as project lead for multiple DSP programs; drive strategy and decision-making
  • Manage cross-functional collaboration (Upstream, Analytical, QA, Manufacturing, Formulation)
  • Deliver client-focused outcomes with clear communication and regular updates
  • Mentor and coach junior scientists; support training and knowledge transfer
  • Lead or contribute to publications, presentations, patents, and external engagements
  • Strong internal and external stakeholder engagement (clients, partners)
  • Present, defend, and influence technical decisions across matrix organizations
  • Provide clear, concise technical updates and reports (written and verbal)
  • Work effectively without direct authority; influence across disciplines
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven project management and multitasking ability

Experience & Qualifications

  • PhD ( 5+ years), MSc ( 7+ years), or BSc ( 10+ years) in DSP
