We are supporting a major public-sector digital transformation programme seeking an experienced Senior Interaction Designer. You will help modernise a complex Legacy service used to record judicial activity, supporting workforce planning, forecasting and payment processes. The role will focus on simplifying difficult workflows and establishing a scalable, accessible UX foundation for future development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design clear, accessible end-to-end interactions for a complex digital service
- Translate user research and service design insights into testable prototypes and screen designs
- Create and iterate prototypes in Figma throughout discovery and delivery
- Simplify workflows currently spread across multiple screens and unrelated actions
- Apply established government design-system components and patterns
- Collaborate closely with user researchers, content designers, service designers and technical colleagues
- Test and refine designs based on user feedback and delivery constraints
- Demonstrate and communicate how design decisions improve outcomes for users
Required Experience
- Strong experience working as a Senior Interaction Designer on complex digital products or services
- Advanced prototyping skills using Figma
- Practical knowledge of the GOV.UK Design System and GOV.UK Prototype Kit
- Previous experience delivering digital services within government or the wider public sector
- Experience working effectively within agile, multidisciplinary teams
- Proven ability to turn user research and service-design outputs into usable prototypes and interfaces
- Strong understanding of accessibility, usability and user-centred design principles
- Experience contributing to design communities of practice and sharing standards or best practice
