Senior Network Engineer (DV Cleared or DV Eligible)
Rate: £560 per day (Inside IR35), plus on call allowances
Duration: 6 month contract
Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week on site near Milton Keynes
Clearance: DV (Developed Vetting) - active or eligible
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a highly secure programme within a defence/national security environment. This is a senior, hands-on role where you will provide technical leadership across enterprise networking and security, operating within high-assurance, air-gapped environments.
You will act as a senior escalation point, supporting complex incidents, contributing to secure network design, and ensuring the ongoing stability and compliance of critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, secure, and support enterprise LAN/WAN infrastructure
Provide technical leadership across routing, switching, and network security
Act as an escalation point for complex network and Firewall issues
Support and maintain highly secure and air-gapped environments
Configure and manage network security controls, policies, and Firewalls
Contribute to secure network design and operational assurance activities
Participate in an on-call rota to support critical services
Core Skills Experience
Design, implementation, and support of enterprise LAN/WAN network infrastructure
Strong technical leadership across routing, switching, and network security
Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies
Deep experience in network security including Firewalls, IPS/IDS, VPNs (IPsec/SSL), and PKI
Administration and support of Cisco Firepower/ASA and Palo Alto NGFWs (Panorama)
Experience acting as escalation in high-security, air-gapped environments
Familiarity with encryption technologies such as Catapan and Bulldog devices
Knowledge of virtualised networking including VMware and NSX-T
Experience with network monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds and PRTG
Understanding of identity-based networking/Software Defined Access (802.1X, IBNS 2.0)
Solid grounding in Windows networking services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Certificate Services

On-Call Requirement - This role includes participation in an on-call rota with the following flat fees payable:
£50 for weekday on-call cover
£100 for weekends and bank holidays
