Senior DevOps Engineer / Cloud Platform Engineer

• £700 to £750 per day via Umbrella
• Initial contract until November 2026
• Hybrid role - 3 days per week on-site in Bury
• Design and build enterprise-scale AWS DevOps frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
• BPSS Clearance required

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Our client is delivering a large-scale cloud transformation programme and is investing heavily in modern DevOps capabilities to support the delivery of secure, scalable and highly available cloud services. Due to continued programme growth, they are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer / Cloud Platform Engineer to lead the evolution of their cloud deployment framework and DevOps tooling.

THE SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER ROLE

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll take ownership of designing and evolving the organisation's DevOps framework, enabling secure, scalable and automated deployments across multiple product teams.

This is a predominantly technical design role (approximately 75% architecture/design and 25% hands-on implementation), where you'll build and enhance CI/CD pipelines, develop Infrastructure as Code solutions, improve cloud automation, and help engineering teams adopt best practices. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, QA, Security, Architecture and Service Reliability teams to remove friction from software delivery and enable continuous deployment into AWS cloud environments.

You'll also help drive observability, cloud cost optimisation (FinOps), infrastructure automation, containerisation and platform scalability while ensuring security and compliance are embedded throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Strong commercial experience as a Senior DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer or Platform Engineer
• Expertise designing and building CI/CD pipelines from scratch
• Strong AWS cloud experience
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Experience with GitHub and GitHub-based pipelines
• Containerisation and orchestration experience (Docker/Kubernetes)
• Bash and/or Python scripting
• DevOps automation and cloud platform engineering
• Knowledge of DevSecOps, Infrastructure Management and Information Security best practices
• Eligible to obtain BPSS Clearance
