Duration: 7 Months + (High possibility of extension) Job ID: 778411 Position Overview The State of North Carolina (NCFAST) is seeking a high-level Senior Oracle Exadata DBA to manage and optimize mission-critical database environments. This role is focused on Oracle databases hosted on Exadata and Linux platforms within an AWS cloud environment. You will take full ownership of application schemas, database design, and performance tuning across development, test, and production environments. This is a key leadership role in database strategy, requiring a specialist who can ensure scalability and reliability for large-scale, high-volume application systems. Core Responsibilities Database Administration: Manage Oracle environments on Exadata and Linux in AWS, including regular backups, restores, patching, and upgrades. Application Collaboration: Work with developers to define data requirements, design tables/schemas, and lead SQL optimization. High Availability: Administer disaster recovery and high-availability solutions using Oracle Data Guard and replication via Oracle GoldenGate. Performance Engineering: Lead tuning efforts at both the database and Exadata storage layers for high-volume workloads. Cloud Operations: Develop and maintain standards and best practices for database operations within a cloud (AWS) infrastructure. Modernization: Provide robust, scalable database solutions to support ongoing application modernization initiatives. Required Qualifications & Experience Oracle Exadata: 5+ years of deep experience with Exadata architecture (Storage Cells, InfiniBand, Smart Scan, and HCC). Storage Management: 5+ years managing Oracle ASM and monitoring disk groups. Technical Maintenance: Proven experience installing, patching (Exadata patches, PSU/DBRU), and upgrading Oracle software. Performance Tuning: Demonstrable expertise in tuning database schemas, access patterns, indexing, and locking strategies. Tools & Troubleshooting: Expert-level skills in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or Cloud Control for diagnostics; ability to troubleshoot across DB, OS, and storage layers. SQL Mastery: Strong SQL writing and optimization skills. Availability: Must participate in on-call rotations and occasional weekend work.
