Senior Python Developer (Data & APIs)

• 3-month initial contract (long-term project with likely extensions)
• Up to £475/day (Inside IR35)
• Public sector client (Active SC Clearance or eligibility required)
• Hybrid - London, Leeds, or Sheffield (travel requirements vary by team)

As part of a long-term partnership, we're looking for Senior Python Developers to join a major public sector digital project delivering critical data integration services at national scale. Contractors typically join on an initial three-month engagement but are regularly extended as the project continues to evolve with new workstreams and product delivery.

You'll be joining a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for building and enhancing APIs, data pipelines and integration services that connect operational systems with downstream digital products. Alongside delivering new features, you'll contribute to the ongoing support and reliability of existing services while working closely with architects, data engineers and product teams to improve engineering standards and accelerate delivery.

We're looking for experienced Python engineers with a strong data engineering background who are comfortable designing scalable, resilient services and working across the full software development life cycle.

Key experience includes:

• Developing production-grade applications and APIs using Python
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex datasets
• Building scalable ETL processes and automated data pipelines
• Designing resilient integrations between operational systems and downstream services
• AWS cloud experience, including Infrastructure as Code
• CI/CD, version control and automated testing (Git, GitHub Actions, pytest or similar)
• Designing services with observability, resilience and operational support in mind
• Working within Agile, multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions

Previous public sector experience is highly desirable. Active SC Clearance is preferred, although candidates who are eligible and confident of obtaining clearance will also be considered.
