Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end services across multiple touchpoints (digital, phone, paper, in-person)
- Map and improve user journeys, identifying pain points and opportunities
- Facilitate service design workshops with stakeholders across policy, operations, and technology
- Use evidence and user research insights to inform design decisions
- Create and maintain:
- Service blueprints
- Journey maps
- Ecosystem maps
- Collaborate closely with:
- User Researchers
- Interaction Designers
- Content Designers
- Delivery Managers
- Ensure alignment with GDS Service Standard and accessibility requirements
- Support service assessments (Alpha, beta, live)
- Contribute to continuous improvement and iteration of live services
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Service Designer in government or public sector
- Strong understanding of GDS principles and service standards
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to design for complex, policy-driven environments
- Skilled in mapping tools (eg Miro, Lucidchart, FigJam)
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills
- Ability to translate complex systems into clear, actionable designs
