Commercial Kitchen Gas Equipment Service Technician Wanted
Since 1985, City Food Equipment has been Chicago's trusted leader in commercial restaurant equipment and supply distribution. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Kitchen Gas Equipment Service Technician with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills to join our service team.

This role is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys working independently in the field, taking ownership of service calls, and solving complex equipment issues with minimal supervision.
If you have hands-on experience repairing gas-fired commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, ranges, and steamers, this is an excellent opportunity to grow with an established, locally owned company.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial gas cooking equipment Service equipment including ovens, ranges, fryers, griddles, broilers, and steamers
Inspect, test, and repair gas systems including valves, regulators, burners, pilots, and ignition systems
Ensure proper gas pressure, combustion, and ventilation in accordance with manufacturer specifications
Detect gas leaks and ensure all equipment meets safety and code compliance standards
Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and gas appliance diagrams
Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation
Test equipment after repair to verify proper performance and safety compliance
Complete and maintain accurate service records, including parts used and labor performed
Provide professional, customer-focused service and communicate clearly regarding diagnoses, repair timelines, and maintenance
recommendations
Work independently in the field, managing service calls and prioritizing workload efficiently
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and service inventory
Adhere to all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
Required Qualifications
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills specific to gas appliances
• Previous experience working with commercial gas-fired cooking equipment
• Knowledge of gas systems, combustion, and safety controls
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
• Experience in commercial kitchen environments preferred
• Must have Driver's license and clean MVR
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience servicing commercial gas appliances
• EPA certification (a plus, especially for combo units with refrigeration)
• Manufacturer or factory training certifications
• Experience in field service roles
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
