Job Title: DevOps Engineer/Octopus Deploy Migration Specialist
Location: Remote (UK) | Occasional London travel (expenses covered)

Rate: Inside IR35/Umbrella - Rate negotiable
We are seeking a DevOps Engineer with strong Octopus Deploy expertise to support a critical migration programme within a large-scale enterprise environment.The organisation is currently reliant on Octopus Deploy for deployment orchestration and is transitioning toward a GitHub-based CI/CD model. Due to a lack of internal Octopus expertise, they require an experienced consultant to stabilise, optimise, and lead the migration effort.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide SME-level expertise across Octopus Deploy environments
- Assess current deployment pipelines, configurations, and dependencies
- Lead and execute migration from Octopus Deploy to GitHub Actions (or equivalent)
- Rebuild and optimise CI/CD pipelines aligned to modern DevOps practices
- Troubleshoot and stabilise existing deployment processes
- Work closely with engineering and platform teams to ensure continuity of service
- Define best practices for future-state pipeline architecture
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Octopus Deploy (essential)
- Proven experience migrating away from Octopus (or similar CD tools)
- Experience with GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/modern CI/CD tooling
- Strong background in Microsoft ecosystems (Azure, .NET, Windows environments)
- Solid understanding of:
- CI/CD pipeline design
- Release orchestration
- Infrastructure & environment management
- Ability to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
Desirable
- Experience with GitOps/pipeline-as-code
- Exposure to hybrid or enterprise-scale environments
- Experience rationalising tooling/DevOps transformation programmes
