Software Developer/Platform Engineer - Python Development - AWS - Hybrid/Leeds - £500 - £600 per day

. Start Date: Start date ASAP
. End Date: 6 months +
. Max charge rate to CGI/Inside IR35 - £450 to include once a fortnight travel to site
. Location/onsite requirements: Once per fortnight Leeds

Software Developer/Platform Engineer - Python Development - Hybrid/Leeds - £500 - £600 per day

CLEARANCE: Must be SC Eligible - incentive for any candidate seeking to obtain SC and transfer to other roles in future
. Need to have lived in the UK for at least 5 years continuously eg no gaps longer than a couple of weeks holiday

  • A nationally critical healthcare integration and messaging platform.
  • It enables secure, high-availability exchange of patient and workforce data between healthcare organisations and digital services.
  • Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of code quality across the platform, managing and monitoring continuous integration (CI) processes and code quality gates, and ensuring that all deployments meet the required technical and governance standards.

Previous experience  

  • Developing safe and secure code for complex software systems
  • Provisioning and developing for cloud-native systems; preferably AWS but any public cloud is welcome 
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD systems that optimize for development velocity, security and reliability
  • Experience working as a subject matter expert, collaborating with product teams, to help them build and observe cloud-native applications
  • Experience investigating and supporting incident investigation on complex software systems
  • Experience "shifting security left"; using various tools and techniques to ensure software is secure (for example: static/dynamic analysis)

Core Skills

  • Senior Python developer
  • Cloud architecture/AWS
  • Terraform, other IaC tools welcome
  • Github Actions, other pipeline tools welcome
  • Observability tooling - any tool welcome
  • Strong understanding of the (secure)SDLC
  • Be willing to go on-call once up to speed - Currently 1 in 6
  • Application development experience; particularly Python
  • Cloud development exposure; particularly AWS

This temporary contract is inside IR35 and will require working under the direction of the client delivery manager as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will follow established delivery processes and working practices

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at SC/DV level. Clearance sponsorship will be provided where required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates should meet the relevant residency requirements. If applicable, reserved post nationality restrictions will be confirmed by the client.
