Job duties:
Develop and plan menus featuring regional Bangladeshi specialties. Supervise, train, and instruct cooks and kitchen staff in preparing Bangladeshi food according to traditional preparation techniques, as well as how to garnish and present it. Maintain inventory and order kitchen supplies and ingredients, including specialty ingredients. Monitor kitchen operations and control food costs. Ensure quality control, taste consistency, and presentation standards. Ensure compliance with BC food safety and sanitation regulations. Prepare meals, including traditional curries such as beef curry and mutton curry, as well as different fish dishes. Prepare traditional snacks, including singara, samosa, piyaju, pakora, chotpoti, and fuchka.
Terms of employment: Permanent and full-time.

Wage: $37.00 per hour.

Required education:
Cook's trade certification or equivalent credentials, training and experience are required. Completion of secondary school is required.
Required work experience and skills:
3 to 5 years of commercial food preparation experience, with a focus on preparing authentic Bangladeshi cuisine, including traditional curries (such as beef, mutton, and fish curries) and regional biryani dishes. Expertise in Bhuna, Jhol, and Kalia cooking techniques. Proficiency in the use of traditional Bangladeshi spice blends (Panch Phoron) and the preparation of authentic Bhortas (mashed specialty dishes). Experience in preparing Pithe (traditional rice cakes) or specific regional desserts like Mishti Doi from scratch.
