Telesys STP Engineer

My client, a large consultancy, is in need of a Telesys STP Engineer for a 6 month contract inside IR35 based in London offering 2 days per week remote but requiring 3 days per week on-site.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in installing, configuring, and commissioning Telesys STP nodes, Configure point codes, linksets, routes, and Global Title Translation (GTT), Configure and manage SS7 signalling links including A links, B links, and C links, Prepare MOPs and implementation artifacts for software upgrades and changes, Integrate STP with core network elements such as MSC, HLR, SMSC, IN, and signalling gateways, Support Legacy SS7 and interworking scenarios based on customer requirements, Strong working knowledge of the SS7 protocol stack:

  • MTP Level 1/2/3
  • SCCP (connectionless & connection†oriented)
  • TCAP (basic operations)

The ideal candidate will be able to Handle E.164, E.212, and E.214 numbering plans, Implement routing logic based on IMSI, MSISDN, and GT patterns, Analyze and troubleshoot signalling failures using traces and logs, Perform protocol†level debugging including SCCP and TCAP decoding, Use tools such as Wireshark/tcpdump for signalling analysis, Optimize routing tables and signalling load distribution, Perform health checks, capacity planning, and performance analysis, Ensure high availability and optimal utilization of STP resources, Understanding of 2G/3G/4G/5G signalling architectures, particularly:

  • MAP signalling
  • MAP Diameter interworking concepts

The ideal candidate will have Familiarity with Diameter signalling in legacy to LTE/5G evolution scenarios, Experience with bare metal, virtualized, and cloud platforms such as KVM, VMware, Kubernetes based CNF, Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
