Temporary Senior BuyerLHH is seeking an interim Senior Buyer to support manufacturing and operational needs at our client's location in their Sterling, VA facility. This position is essential to maintaining consistent material flow, competitive pricing, strong supplier performance, and adherence to internal policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issue and manage purchase orders for both direct and indirect materials in alignment with MRP signals, production plans, and service demands
- Balance inventory levels to ensure timely fulfillment while reducing excess stock and obsolescence
- Proactively expedite orders to minimize supply chain disruptions and production delays
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, including managing confirmations, delivery timelines, quality concerns, and corrective actions
- Assist with supplier negotiations related to pricing, lead times, and contractual terms within approved limits
- Track and analyze purchasing metrics such as delivery performance, cost trends, lead times, and supplier responsiveness
- Contribute to cost-saving initiatives including PPV, VAVE, and other continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure all procured items meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and proper documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier, pricing, and purchasing data within ERP systems
- Address and resolve discrepancies related to invoices and receiving processes promptly
- Work cross-functionally with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Finance teams to align procurement with operational goals
- Support product launches, engineering updates, and product lifecycle changes
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 2-5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles within a manufacturing or operations setting
- Hands-on experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Proven ability to execute purchase orders for a range of materials and services
- Experience monitoring and improving supplier performance across cost, quality, and delivery
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in electronics, instrumentation, or regulated manufacturing industries
- Familiarity with Lean principles, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies
- Experience working with both domestic and global suppliers
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
Pay Details: $29.00 to $34.00 per hour
